I had a majority of the lyrics for this written in a notebook that I used to carry with me everywhere. Loosely written about my high school sweetheart, Pancho and I were gigging at a resort on Leach Lake in northern Minnesota and had the afternoon to kill in the club. I had envisioned your typical slow piano ballad, but I sang a few lines and he started playing this really cool arpeggiated guitar riff. It was one of those light bulb moments and the rest of the song wrote itself.
